Part of my “calling” (I guess you could call it that) is to educate others about the shared history and linguistic and cultural connections between distant but related cultures. I am from Malaysia and literally no one here knows that their distant ancestors used to sail all the way to
Madagascar. In fact, I used to live in France where there is a large immigrant Malagasy population. I always enjoyed chatting with Malagasies and comparing how similar our languages and cultures are.
