I'm a linguist and used to work on indigenous languages from North America for a research project. The Plateau is incredibly diverse linguistically and culturally. The Ktunaxa, Chilcotin and Interior Salish languages are about as different from each other as English is from Arabic and Hungarian! Your wonderful article brings back memories to the time when I was trying to wrap my head around those incredible Salish syllables! Imagine trying to say Nlaka’pamux and Stl’atl’imx in one breath! :)
